Want to stay close to the magic during your Disney World vacation? A stay at a Disney hotel on the monorail is a perfect choice! With views of Magic Kingdom nightly fireworks guests are right in the magic. In this post I am sharing what are the Disney hotels on the monorail and if they are a good choice for your Disney vacation.

If you are looking for a beautiful resort that has a bit of luxury, and offers access to the Disney parks, you should consider a stay at one of the Disney World monorail resorts.

These resorts offer guests great amenities and perks as well as great views of the Magic Kingdom over the Seven Seas Lagoon. They fall under the Deluxe Resort category and will have a higher price point than other resort options.

Disney Hotels on the Monorail

  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

The resort line goes in a loop between the 3 resorts and the Transportation and Ticket Center (Magic Kingdom). There is also a second monorail line that goes from the Transportation and Ticket Center to Epcot.

The monorail is free to all guests and can be used to get to Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has a modern theme and has also received updates the last few years. It is within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom.

Pros and Cons of Staying at a Disney Resort on the Monorail

ProCon
-within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom from Grand Floridian and Contemporary-Cost can be pricey, often starting at over $500.00 a night.
-onsite amenities like water slides, nightly firework viewing, onsite character dining-rooms are not much larger than the value or moderate resorts unless you book a villa
-The electrical water pageant runs nightly on the Seven Seas Lagoon. It is a colorful parade on the water that isn’t really advertised but can be seen from the resorts.

If you are staying at a monorail resort you will need to take bus transportation to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. For Magic Kingdom and Epcot the monorail will be your mode of transportation.

These resorts may not be in your budget but you can still experience them by making a dining reservation at one of the restaurants. Ohana at the Polynesian, 1900 Park Fare at The Grand Floridian, and Chef Mickey at the Contemporary are all character dining that allow guests to visit the resorts.

Any guest can take advantage of the monorail, it is free and you do not need a ticket to ride it.

Staying close to the Magic Kingdom is a great perk of the hotels on the monorail at Disney World but they are not a must for your Disney trip. Choose the resort that fits best into your budget. I would not recommend going into debt to stay at the resorts, you can have a great trip staying at a value or moderate resort.

Overall the monorail resorts at Disney World can be a great option for guests looking for a deluxe resort with monorail transportation at the Walt Disney World resort.
